Olive Challenge

Investing in innovation

The first stage of the “OLIVE CHALLENGE” competition was officially completed. The competition, focused on innovations for the olive soil sector, was organized by the Fileos, Olive Oil Society.

At the event, that took place at FOOD EXPO 2019 on Sunday, March 17, all the teams that participated in the “Gestation” phase, presented the progress they have made during the course of the last year.

In particular, the 10 teams that stood out at the Olive Challenge Contest during FOOD EXPO 2018, had the chance to get coaching and mentoring from distinguished entrepreneurs, helping them to bring their innovative ideas to life. At the same time, the teams attended seminars and workshops from renowned scientists and networked with the most significant companies in the Greek olive oil sector. In addition, they were able to find possible future investors for the realization of their ideas. The contestants who were admitted to the next stage during last years contest, came at FOOD EXPO 2019 in order to talk about their experience and the benefits they obtained by their participation at the contest and the whole procedure. They also referred to the importance of innovation and the future of the olive sector in general. Finally, the 2nd Olive Challenge was officially announced, and the first applications have been lodged.

The event also featured a series of compelling speeches. Namely, Mr Artemis Myropoulos, Managing Director – CoOwner Linkage Greece, talked about the Power of Purpose, while equally interesting was the panel discussion “Investing in Innovation” coordinated by Mr Dimitris Mallas, journalist, CNN GREECE & Banks.com.gr, and with the participation of Mr. Yiannis Lavdiotis, Principal Consultant Marketingme – Professor of Marketing NEW YORK COLLEGE, Mr. Sotiris Seimanidis, VP of the Management Board, TESCO GROUP, and Mr. Apostolos Tamvakakis, CEO EOS CAPITAL PARTNERS SA.
